Happy Mother's Day Mum

"A mother understands what a child does not say"

The earliest memory I have of mum was on christmas morning (???). Santa had bought me a red (furry) bear rocking chair and a doll with some busy stuff around her head. I started to tear it off and went in and woke mum up to help. I can remember her telling me it was the veil and that it was not repairable - I'm not sure how old I was but I can clearly remember feeling devastated that I had wrecked it!

Mum had a saying she always said "you can do what you like to me, but don't ever touch my children or my animals"! She always stood up for us - no matter what! When I think about it I am always amazed at her resilience. She stood by her son, regardless of the things he did, never once turning her back on him. She loved him till the day she died. A mother's love!

That she loved me, I have no doubt. I can remember when she called to tell me she had cancer. I was very upset and she said to me "Bubby, please don't be upset. I am happy that I have lived this long - I had always thought I wouldn't make it to 40!"

An amazing women, who I didn't fully appreciate until after I had children (plural) of my own and she wasn't here any more.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY MUM

loving you and missing you
