Goodbye Liz

My friend and neighbour lost her very short but vicious battle with cancer this morning. Georgie, Shantelle and I went and said good bye before we left on Thursday morning. I had a lot of love for Liz, she made a real difference in my life and I am so thankful I had the chance to tell her.

This women was truly amazing. Liz and her son John moved in with Rob and the girls (Judith, Imogen & Helen) about a year after they had lost their wife and mother to cancer. The family had fallen to pieces and she worked hard to put those pieces back together. That was 10 years ago.

After hearing that a new family had moved in up the street with a girl about the same age as Imogen, she came up and introduced herself and Imogen - Georgie and Imogen have been best friends ever since.

Liz amongst other things was a book editor and distributor. She introduced me to so many fantastic authors and would make sure I not only had all the books by those authors, she'd also get me copies months before they were released.

I always knew that we could rely on Liz, if she could help she would - we'd often call their house the Lohmeyer/McFarlane grocery store.

Her legacy must surely be the children she raised so beautifully - Judith 20, Imogen 17, John 13 and Helen 13 .

Good bye Liz, you were a beautiful person and I am so grateful to have had you in my (our) life. May you take the love that surrounded you onto your next journey.

So sad! Life is not fair sometimes.
What's the message? cherish and love all those around you everyday.
Thinking of Imogen and the family.
