THE GATES OF HELL I just can't comprehend the fires!! What incredible terror and panic those people who died (and the ones that survived) must have felt - what an enormous amount of pressure on parents with children to make the right decision in absolute chaos! What an appalling way to die!
So many lives touched by this disaster! Entire towns and homes destroyed, hundreds of animals dead and injured!
How can this have happened? Or how about WHY?
What an amazing job our fire fighters did and are still doing! The tireless efforts of hundreds (thousands??) of people volunteering to do whatever they can to help!
I feel extremely helpless! Really, what can I do? I'll donate money, I'll give blood, I'll rip the head off the next prick I hear making a ridiculous statement like: "The reason all those houses burnt was because of dirty guttering"!
Of course Australians are throwing themselves into the task of raising much needed money - everywhere you look businesses, schools, organisations are pitching in to do their bit! And it is at times like this that I feel so incredibly proud to be an AUSTRALIAN!

I agree, hell! I wish to never ever have to make a decision like that in my life time, however Sweet Leigh Victoria is no where near Canberra, the fires were so close to Melbourne that my Mother in law could see them from her balcony. Oh those Rabbits in China how they get around. :)
And it's times like this that I my friend, am so incredibly proud to call myself your friend.
